MEET TELTTAILLEN: RESELLER OF AUTENTIC TENTS IN FINLAND
February 3, 2023
Jonna, founder of Telttaillen, tells us how she used her love for the outdoors to start her business: Telttaillen, official reseller of Autentic glamping tents in Finland.
How It Started
When I was in my twenties, I studied to become a wilderness guide and carried out that activity for several years in the arctic circle. I also spent a while serving the Finnish Army so spending both warm and cold nights outside in a tent was therefore quite familiar to me. But then Adulthood decided to hit and so I chose to study at university. I then worked for 15 years as a registered nutritionist specialised in psychology of eating. Although it was a very interesting job, mentally it was not easy every day. I started to miss nature a little more every day and longed to go camping again. Since my preference for comfort had also grown stronger over the years, I didn’t really do anything with that desire to camp and just daydreamed about it.
When covid hit, most of my working days changed leading me to sit behind my desk working on my computer all day long. By Autumn 2019, I had enough with this routine and decided to try something completely different. And that was when I bought my very first 5 meter bell tent! I pitched it in my backyard, enjoyed the comfort and cosiness of it and just loved camping (with a bit more comfort) again! I wanted to share this same glamping experience with other people and decided to list my backyard bell tent on AirBnb. After two hours, I already had some reservation. And the rest is history.

Telttaillen x Autentic
I’ve managed to lure Sami – who was not really hard to convince since he’s a real nature lover himself – to join me on my adventure. Telttaillen now counts 75 bell tents in total. We rent out our bell tents to other accommodation businesses and also shorter events like music festivals. Autentic and Telttaillen got in touch in 2021 to collaborate. After buying a few sample bell tents, we were really impressed by the quality. We decided to use the little farm of my parents in the middle of Finland as a showroom to showcase Autentic’s glamping tents. Soon was clear that we wanted more and so Camp Kartano was born. Camp Kartano is a small glamping site including a few Autentic glamping tents where people can stay for a few nights to enjoy nature and have a break from everyday life. Just like what I did with my own bell tent in my backyard back in 2019.
The Future
I’d like to introduce the glamping feeling to as much people as possible. And since Finland is not called winter wonderland for nothing, I would love to let people spend the night in nature during winter too. To be continued! ;-)
